Small Stuff

Do you ever have a week in which you do a lot, but never really get anything accomplished? This has been one of those weeks for me. Thankfully, the good folks at Faith & Family Live encourage us moms to not sweat the small stuff. Head on over and take a peek and possibly leave a list of your little accomplishments.

1) We are in the living room, if you fly with the Flylady. Unfortunately, so far this week I've only accomplished one small mission in our living room. I went couch diving and cleaned under all the cushions of the couches. It's quite fun to discover what has been lurking there all these months. I found the missing mate to one of my favorite pairs of earrings, Lil' Wingnut's belt that had been missing since December, lots of little lego guys, and what seemed like hundreds of Starburst wrappers. Someone around here needs to find where the garbage can is kept! LOL

2) I am up this morning at 5:30. Yes, 5:30 people! I'm taking Stat Boy up to the chapel for Mass and then he is heading with the youth group to Hershey Park for the day. 5:30! I have a wonderful friend (she also writes this wonderful blog) who gets up this early every weekday and goes to Mass. She's a living saint, or at least striving very hard to be one.

3) Our oldest is learning to drive and will begin driver's ed next week. I had promised I would NEVER take any of our children out driving, but necessity dictated that I must. I put in two hours with Karate Kid behind the wheel this week. She's doing a great job. I, on the other hand, need to work on my white knuckle clutching of the dashboard, frantic directions, and panicked facial expressions.

Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week. Hang in there and remember every little bit counts!

Yes, 5:30 AM is early! I have been getting up that early to go to the gym . . . it means early to bed too! It is hard to get used to!

Good job cleaning the couch . . . I am afraid to look in ours . . there is probably enough crumbs to make a full meal!

Hey Mau,

I solved the couch cushion problem...buy a futon! I pulled the cousion from the oversized chair in our basement and I found one of Abby's friends who was stuck in there for a month! Nah...but I swear I found everything but a kid. It took the gang of 3 over 20 minutes to clean out all the garbage...15 minutes of that was them fighting over whose stuff was whose, who wasn't pulling their weight and who was the most popular at school. I find it funny how you need to work on "my white knuckle clutching of the dashboard, frantic directions, and panicked facial expressions". You display those when YOU ARE DRIVING! Come on Big Sister! Those are expressions that are permanently splashed on your face, in your voice and part of your physical mannerisms! Work on them? Those can only be removed by surgery, voice therapy and electric shock treatment. When it comes to 5:30 am wake-ups...I agree...God is not even awake at that time. How do I know? I am up at 5:15 am everyday not because I am some happy farmer trying to get my day going but because my body needs for me to run or I turn into Jabba The Hut. When I run I pray and all I get is a recording that God is not in and to check back at a more reasonable time...like noon!

Love ya Mau

Great successes! I need to fly with the flylady again. I have an on again, off again relationship with her and her methods...I agree, 5:30a. is early, wish I could do it, though. I remember driver's ed...it was awful! but worse than that was driving with my DAD :)
