Child Prodigy, Not!

The younger girls have been learning their states and capitals this year. Every morning we go through the flash cards and Baby Wingnut is always right therein the fray wanting to participate. When the girls get stumped, I whisper the answer to Baby Wingnut so that he can "win" a flash card, just like his sisters.

Early last week we were going through the cards as I read out "Lansing", Baby Wingnut came tearing around the corner and called out "Michigan!" I was floored. I stood up and began cheering for my brilliant toddler. The rest of my crew began laughing out loud.

"What?" I questioned.

"Mom, he's been running circles around the house for several minutes chanting Michigan! Michigan! Michigan!"

So much for my child prodigy. Sigh.

Ahhh the joys of the child prodigy getting stuck in a feedback loop! I'm glad he was yelling Michigan and not something else horrible like poopie or salmon loaf. We have our own prodigy, Abigail, who will run around the house repeating the term, "lemon wedge" or "do you want to tussle". So I think Baby Wingy belching out Michigan is pretty smart! I can't wait to introduce him to his uncle Walter where he can learn some new words and phrases to repeat around the house! Guaranty to you they will be brilliant!!!
