After more than a year and two permits from two different states, The JayP finally has his driver's license. As any mother of any driving age teenager knows, this is indeed a mixed blessing. Yes, he can finally drive himself to and from school. Yes, he can transport himself to any after school activities. Yes, he can get a job and be responsible for getting himself there and back. All blessings, indeed. However, I just can't help but worry too. I'll worry about his own inexperience behind the wheel. I'll worry about whether other drivers are safe. I'll worry about the choices he could make with his new freedom. These worries are part of the plight of motherhood I was not prepared for. Saint Christopher, pray for us!
