Blessed

We have been blessed by living in this community in more ways than we can count. We have never lived any where in our military career that can compare to the love, support, and hospitality we have experienced here, especially when it comes to welcoming a new little life. Our parish has been the most pro-life parish we've ever gone to, and in the ten years we've been stationed here, this parish has experienced a constant baby boom. At this moment I can list at least six families that are either pregnant or have had a baby in the last 12 months. The most surprising aspect of this trend is that it has happened so very quietly. While children are most welcome in our parish, it is not something that has been preached about very frequently. The babies just keep coming. It's been a beautiful thing to witness.

Families here love to organize meals for those of us that have recently welcomed a new life. When Lil' Wingnut was born, we had meals brought to us for two straight weeks. It was fantastic! In the last four years, since his birth, we've discovered our family has some food allergies and issues, so when Lil' Lamb was born, we opted out of the meal program. Funny, our friends would have none of it. Even when I expressed our older children were providing meals for the first week of post-partum recovery, our friends still wanted to bring us food. Even after listing all the foods and ingredients we could not have (no dairy, no preservatives, no dyes, no artificial flavorings), they still wanted to provide meals. This is what it means to be pro-life in our community. We have been so blessed.

I think that most people would count the blessing in the other direction...you and yours are living, breathing examples of God's promise to us. Not all parents are given the gift of a large and loving family; those of us whose families are smaller in number (note: I did not say size, height, total weight, etc.!) look to you and yours for ways to show our children that God blesses those who follow His ways with an abundance of love.

Thanks for being an example and inspiration to my children. Your loving acceptance of each new life sows seeds that will bear fruit in many generations to come. We need more families like yours to come forward and share their stories...thank you so much for sharing yours and for living out God's will!
