Small Successes: The Summer Does Fly

Small Successes for August 5, 2010:

Wha? It's August already?!

1) School books are ordered, courses are planned for the younger 5, and the 17 year old is registered for her two college courses. All we need to do now is clean out the old and replace it with the new. Hopefully that will happen next week. Be looking for a post or two about our homeschool plan for this coming year very soon.

2) As much as I did not want to, as much as I dragged my feet, the laundry is washed, dried, folded, and put away.

3) We just finished the first Mrs. Piggle Wiggle read aloud and have begun the second. My little ones are really enjoying Mrs. Piggle Wiggle's ingenious solutions to bad behavior. I can't help but smile as they giggle during story hour each night.

Hey Mau,

Small successes keep you motivated until you can get a big success to happen your way...or...it's a way to survive the daily grind of being life's pinata!!! Great job on your successes Mau but I don't particularly see you ordering school material issues as a success...that is more of an annoyance. I love my nieces and nephews and I will stand beside them to let you know that your teaching efficiency has got to go! Procrastination at getting the school year started is NOT a bad thing! Let those little minds and bodies play for an extra month or two...then kick all that learning stuff into low gear. When you have hi IQs like they do (they get those from someone other than this uncle) what could they really learn from those materials anyways!

When it comes to laundry...OVERRATED! Do we really need to fold our underwear? Does anyone out there really care if I have a wrinkle in my boxers? Please! How about folding sheets...why fold something that is going to be unfolded and slept on for a period of a few days to a few weeks (with StatNut it might be longer but it makes me sick to my stomach to think about that). I understand folding clothes because it makes it possible to fit them into the dresser and it looks a little hokey when the stripes on a shirt are indistinguishable because of all the wrinkles. I think you should pay my fine neices and nephews $20 a minute to fold that laundry for you. They deserve it because they are cute!!!
Finally...Mrs Piggle Wiggle...come on...who wouldn't giggle at something named Piggle Wiggle and all of her escapades!

Love ya Mau

Great list over all - I'm so impressed with you. Can't wait to see your plan!

Good for you! Just last night I went to our local homeschool group kick off meeting. It did get me a little excited for the new year of learning. The big difference this year is that in January I started k12 independent for my 7th grader. So she started her year in January and ends then which is weird. I really have nothing NEW to buy.
